TRACER Trueshot Deep Hole Chalk Marker: Who It's For and Where to Use It

TRACER Trueshot Deep Hole Chalk Marker: Who It's For and Where to Use It

Posted: 18th March, 2026  - Written By: Zain Moosa

Marking a fixing point through a bracket, frame or base plate is one of the most common jobs on site, and one of the easiest to get wrong. A pencil won't reach to the bottom of a deep hole, and tapping a drill bit through the fitting leaves a scratch you can barely see. The TRACER Trueshot Deep Hole Chalk Marker Kit solves both problems. It marks a precise chalk cross on the surface behind a hole, at depths from 0 mm to 100 mm, so you drill in exactly the right place the first time.

How the TRACER Trueshot deep hole marker works

Push the tapered nozzle into the fixing hole until it sits directly against the surface behind it, then press. The Trueshot sprays a clean, high-visibility green chalk cross through its built-in crosshair, marking the exact centre of the hole. Lift away the bracket or fitting and drill straight onto the mark.

The chalk comes from a replaceable canister that delivers up to 350 shots. A 3-stage locking system (spray, lock and replace) prevents leaks, misfires and accidental sprays in your pocket or bag, and makes changing the canister quick and mess-free.

Who uses the TRACER Trueshot?

Any trade that fixes something to a wall, floor or ceiling through a pre-drilled hole will save time with the Trueshot. In South Africa, that covers most of the professionals on a typical site.

Electricians. Mark fixing points through DB board enclosures, isolator boxes, cable tray, trunking and light fittings straight onto brick, block or concrete.

Solar installers. Hold inverter and battery wall brackets, mounting rails and combiner boxes in position and mark every fixing in seconds, without a second person holding the bracket while you reach for a pencil.

Plumbers. Mark through geyser brackets, pipe clips, basin and toilet pan fixings, and shower rail brackets, including on tiled walls.

Air-conditioning and HVAC technicians. Mark through the wall mounting plate for indoor units, outdoor unit brackets and ducting supports.

Security and access control installers. Mark fixing holes for CCTV cameras, beams, gate motor base plates, burglar bars and safety gates.

Window, door and shopfront installers. Mark through pre-drilled aluminium and timber frames onto the brickwork or reveal behind them.

Kitchen, cabinet and shopfitting installers. Mark through hanging rails, shelving uprights, wall bays and TV mounts for a clean, level installation.

Steel fabricators and maintenance teams. Mark anchor positions through base plates for balustrades, handrails, columns and machine mounts.

Where can you use the Trueshot?

Through deep fittings. The Trueshot marks at any depth from 0 mm to 100 mm. That covers thin brackets and mounting plates, as well as deeper fixings through cable tray, channel, timber battens and window frames, where a pencil simply can't reach.

On any common building surface. Use it on face brick, plastered walls, block, concrete, timber and tiles. The high-visibility green chalk leaves a crisp, splatter-free mark that stays clearly visible on light, dark and uneven surfaces.

Overhead and at height. Point-and-spray marking works one-handed, so you can hold a fitting against a ceiling or slab with one hand and mark with the other. The lanyard hole lets you tether the tool when working on ladders and scaffolding.

On site, every day. The impact-tested ABS body and tapered nozzle are built to survive drops and demanding site conditions. The pocket clip keeps the Trueshot on hand, and the locking system means it won't spray chalk in your pocket or toolbag.
